Carmella became a fixture of the New York City drag scene beginning in 2002. She worked in the New York nightlife for six years hosting shows in gay bars and cabaret lounges. She was best known for being an outrageous, over-the-top, drag improv comedian. She was best known in the nightlife for hosting Who’s on Top? At Posh Lounge, Sit or Spin at the View Bar, and Confessions of a Jaded Whore at Barracuda Lounge.

Carmella launched her political and entertainment podcast In The Cann With Carmella Cann in 2023. The podcast touches on topics such as U.S. Border and Abortion and has had notable guests such as former New York State Senator Tom Duane. While in season, new episodes are regularly added and can be found on CarmellaCann.com, YouTube, Apple Podcast, and Spotify, as well as Bi-weekly on Manhattan Neighborhood Network on Thursdays at 6 PM (EST).

Carmella Cann’s on-screen appearances include the Ricki Lake Show, A&E’s 15 Film About Madonna, Casper Andreas film A Four-Letter Word, cameo on Viralcom, Under The Pink Carpet, and featured in the short film Voodoo You Believe. Carmella appeared in the role of the maid in Ring of Death at Theater for The New City.

Carmella has been known for being a Mistress of Ceremonies for a number of events and is a wedding officiant in New York State. She is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish and has a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Baruch College.
